Driver who ran into Denver protester in May is charged with assault, reckless driving – The Denver Post

A Denver woman who was filmed running her vehicle into a protester during a demonstration for George Floyd in May has been charged with assault and reckless driving.

Jennifer Watson, 37, was issued a summons on July 15 to appear in court and face the charges, according to a copy of the summons released Monday by Denver District Attorney Beth McCann.

The incident happened on the evening of May 28 during a protest on Broadway near the Colorado Capitol. The video shows protesters surrounding a black SUV with one man riding on the hood. That man jumps off as the SUV speeds up. In the video, the vehicle seems to be free from protesters, with a clear route to leave, but the driver swings around and runs into the man who had been on the hood, knocking him to the ground from behind.
